B.S. in Healthcare Management
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Health Care Management program prepares graduates to work with health data, applications systems and manage electronic health information databases. Given the importance of information accuracy, privacy and security, HIT graduates are prepared for involvement in regulatory compliance and quality assessment activities designed to ensure that health information systems support patient care and safety. They work with nurses, physicians, other healthcare providers, and managers and technical specialists in a variety of settings such as hospitals, long-term-care facilities, insurance and managed care organizations, government agencies and vendor firms.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVE: The HCM program is designed to produce graduates who are able to:
- Perform complex clinical coding tasks.
- Support healthcare data analysis and management using applications software.
- Abstract, analyze and manage healthcare data.
- Use principles of life sciences and information technology to implement and evaluate solutions to healthcare information technology problems.

Requirements: TWELVE (12) courses in the field of study – 48 Credits
General Education Courses - THIRTY SIX (36) of credits are required to be met within the sixty (60) credits transferred in at admission, or added to the Study Plan in lieu of some of the General and Major courses listed within each of the Baccalaureate Degree Programs here in. These will be nine (9) General Education courses in the fields of English, Humanities, Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences. Total of – 36 credits American Business College will give credit for any of the General Education courses tested by CLEP for students having taken and earned the equivalent grade of C or higher. Taking of a CLEP test can be arranged on the following Website: Universityboard.com/student/testing/clep/about.html. This is a national program with CLEP centers throughout the United States.
